Michael Kemp Fund for New Music

The Michael Kemp Fund for New Music was established in 2020 as a way for MCCO to honor our founding Artistic Director and Conductor. The goal of this fund will be used to commission composers, focusing on local, women, and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) composers to write pieces for choir and orchestra every two years.
Donations can be made throughout the year.
The first piece will be commissioned and performed for our Spring concert in 2023, MCCO'S 25th anniversary concert.
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Rollo A. Dilworth
will be our first commissioned composer.
An in-demand, prolific composer, Dr. Dilworth has over 150 published pieces to his name. He is also professor of choral music education at Temple University.

"I am extremely excited and humbled by the opportunity to compose a piece of music honoring the legacy of Michael Kemp. For several decades, both Michael and members of his family have made significant contributions to the arts communities across the nation.
I very much look forward to composing a work that both celebrates the joy of making music and captures the energy of Michael’s lifelong commitment to artistic excellence."
